Manifesto

I get the feeling that life never changes on purpose. It just shuffles by and things become different as a result. If this is the case then all I can really aim for is to just do something, anything, and then subsequent things will happen. So consider this my first steps towards a happening; my falling backwards into an unknown sea, hoping to be dragged under, away from the safety of the boat’s monotony.

Consider this to be my ‘Stop Fucking About’ manifesto. Although, as far as I can tell that’s all anyone really does. Be that as it may, here I am holding myself to account, ready and willing to take some action. I’ve paid up front for a year’s subscription to this ‘ere website so if nothing else, my tightness will slowly turn itself into productivity. I’ve found that sitting on top of work, whether that be songs, or poems, or stories or anything I’ve created only leads to inactivity. I am well versed in the art of clogging the pipes of output but the blockages have varied. At one time it was perfection that got in the way, ‘this can’t go out because it’s not perfect’ came the cry. But as the years added up I realised that nothing is perfect, nothing is finished, but there comes a time where you need to put it out there in order to move on. In more recent times, the force that has halted my output has been the force of ‘Who gives a fuck?’.

Who Gives A Fuck?

This one has been more tricky to navigate. Perfectionism can stall ideas reaching any sort of conclusion, whereas, the force of ‘who gives a fuck?’ stifles any ideas from the very beginning. It chips away at the creative motivation until there is a nihilistic hole where creativity used to be. Well, I am a firm believer that discipline trumps motivation and after some searching I have found that the answer to ‘who gives a fuck?’ is that I give a fuck.

So this is me giving a fuck, making a change, taking action. I am committed to posting here twice a week, whether it be thoughts or introspections like this one, or poetry, or stories or songs in an attempt to move forward and see what happens as a result.
