The campaign only served to worsen the strain between the secular

And the devout.

“You don’t speak for us any more” came the cry.

“We worship ourselves now! Like and subscribe if you agree”

And thousands more shared the ad, with captions like – 

“I will not be a slave to a system!” or “ I have the right to say what I find acceptable!”

Except the shares disappeared.

“Post violates terms of service,” was the message received.

From an unknown, powerful provider, 

In the name of the socials, the messengers, and the ISPs

Give us this day our daily updates

And forgive us our haters

And lead us not into doom scrolling

But deliver us cute cat videos

For likes are the kingdom,

And shares are the glory.

For ever and ever,
